RAA School Community Prays Novena to St. Joseph
Beginning on March 10th during the second week of Lent, Regina Angelorum Academy’s students and its Catholic school community will be praying a Novena to St. Joseph.
What is a Novena?
The word “novena” is derived from the Latin word for nine, or “novem.” Typically, a novena refers to praying the same petition or devotion for nine consecutive days. During these nine days of prayer it is common to ask God for a specific intention, often through a Saint’s intercession.

Why Saint Joseph?
The Solemnity of Saint Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary is on March 19th. Therefore, the ninth and final day of the novena will fall on The Solemnity of Saint Joseph also known as the Feast of St. Joseph or St. Joseph’s Day.
Saint Joseph was Mary’s husband and Jesus’s earthly father. He was faithful to God in accepting Mary’s child and God’s will for their family’s life not knowing the outcome.
St. Joseph is the patron Saint of the Universal Church, families, fathers, expectant mothers, travelers, immigrants, house sellers and buyers, craftsmen, engineers and working people, among others.
Novena to St. Joseph
Oh St. Joseph whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.
Oh St. Joseph do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your divine son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, our Lord; so that having engaged here below your heavenly power I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of fathers.
Oh St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while he reposes near your heart. Press him in my name and kiss his fine head for me, and ask him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen.
Regina Angelorum Academy, a Catholic Elementary school in Ardmore, PA, invites the entire school community and its families to join them and their students in prayer. RAA encourages participants to reflect on a special intention during these nine days. The Novena to St. Joseph can be especially fitting for Fatherhood, Spouses, and Family Life in general.
